Holiday Guide
Thanksgiving is the one holiday that turns on a single question: where is everyone eating, and who is cooking. Most travel guides answer it with a list of restaurants and move on. That misses the interesting part, which is that in Park City you have three genuinely good options — and the right one depends entirely on how many people you are feeding.
Thanksgiving 2026 falls on Thursday, November 26. Below is the full week, the dinner question answered three ways, and the reason the two days after Thanksgiving are the best-programmed weekend of the entire month.
| Day | What’s On |
|---|---|
| Wed, Nov 25 | Arrival day. Groceries, Main Street dinner, rooftop fire pit |
| Thu, Nov 26 | Turkey Trot 5K in the morning; Thanksgiving dinner from midday onward |
| Fri, Nov 27 | Park City Art & Music Gallery Stroll, Main Street, evening |
| Sat, Nov 28 | Small Business Saturday; Main Street holiday lighting at Miner’s Park; Snow Globe Art Stroll opens |
| Sun, Nov 29 | Quiet Main Street morning, snow globes, departure |
Exact times for the lighting ceremony are published by the Historic Park City Alliance in early November, and it has moved between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. in recent years. Confirm closer to the date.
The annual Park City Turkey Trot runs Thanksgiving morning at Matt Knoop Memorial Park — a relaxed 5K loop that draws runners, walkers, families, strollers, dogs, and a reliable contingent in turkey costumes. It has traditionally started at 9 a.m. and been free to enter, with participants encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations for the local food bank.
It is the right way to start the day for two reasons. It builds an appetite ahead of a very large meal, and it gets a group out of the house during the hours when the kitchen is busiest and least in need of an audience.
If a 5K is not the move, the trailheads above Old Town are three minutes uphill and open year round. A morning walk on the Armstrong Trail with the first snow on the peaks is a decent substitute.
For a group of eight or ten, this is usually the right answer, and it is the option a hotel cannot offer at any price. Summit on Main has a Wolf professional range, a double oven, a wet bar for staging drinks away from the cooking, and a dining table that seats ten at once — not two tables, not a shift system.
That last detail is the whole argument. A Thanksgiving where half the group eats at a kitchen island is not really a Thanksgiving. The version where everyone sits down together, then moves fifteen feet to the fireplace, is the one people remember.
Groceries: The Market at Park City on Snow Creek Drive and Fresh Market on Park Avenue are both a few minutes from Old Town. Whole Foods and Smith’s are at Kimball Junction, roughly ten minutes out. Order a fresh turkey and any specialty items well in advance — Park City is a small mountain town and holiday stock moves early. Arriving Wednesday gives you a full shopping day before the stores close for the holiday.
If nobody wants to cook, Main Street runs a full holiday service and you can reach all of it on foot. In recent years the Main Street lineup has included Butcher’s Chop House with a two-course prix fixe, Flanagan’s on Main serving from late morning, Kaneo with a Mediterranean-influenced three-course menu, Riverhorse on Main, The Eating Establishment, and Collie’s Sports Bar and Grill. Off Main Street, Grub Steak, Hearth and Hill, Goldener Hirsch, and the resort dining rooms at St. Regis and Montage Deer Valley all run holiday menus.
Pricing has generally spanned roughly $50 to $175 per adult depending on the venue, with reduced children’s pricing at most. The Park City Area Restaurant Association publishes the confirmed list each November at parkcityrestaurants.com. Reserve in early November — the good tables are gone well before the week arrives. Our Main Street dining guide covers the same restaurants the rest of the year.
The option most people forget. Several Park City restaurants and caterers offer full Thanksgiving feast packages for pickup — turkey, sides, and pie, ready to reheat. You get the table at home and the group in one room without anyone spending the day at the stove. For a group that wants the domestic version of the holiday without the labor, this is the sensible middle path, and it is worth asking about when you call to check restaurant menus.
Worth knowing about even if it is not your plan. No Name Saloon on Main Street has for decades served a free Thanksgiving dinner, opening its doors in the afternoon and serving until the food runs out. It is a genuine local institution rather than a marketing exercise — the kind of thing that happens in a town where the people who work the holiday still want somewhere to go.
It is a bar, so it is an adults-only stop, and it is not a substitute for a reservation. But it tells you something real about the town, and it is two minutes from the door.
This is the case for staying through Sunday rather than flying out Friday.
The Park City Art & Music Gallery Stroll runs the last Friday of every month, which in 2026 puts it on November 27 — the evening after Thanksgiving. Main Street galleries open their doors for a free evening of art, food, drinks, and live music. Look for the Park City Gallery Association flags. It is the adult counterprogramming to a day of leftovers.
Small Business Saturday, November 28, is the anchor. Local musicians play along Main Street through the day, shops run extended hours, and in the late afternoon the Miner’s Park Christmas tree and every strand strung between the Main Street lampposts are switched on at once. Santa’s mailbox goes up for letters, and the Silver & Snow window display contest opens, with each participating shopfront carrying a code to scan and vote.
Seven life-sized snow globes, each built by a local artist as its own winter scene, are installed along Main Street over Thanksgiving week and stay through early January. Each hides a silver snowflake, which turns the walk into a scavenger hunt for anyone traveling with kids. The route runs from the top of Main down to Town Lift — so 545 Main Street sits in the middle of it rather than at the end of a drive to it.
Be realistic. Park City Mountain has historically targeted a mid to late November opening and Deer Valley early December, but neither has announced 2026-27 dates, and both targets move. Last season Park City Mountain pushed its November 21 opening to December 5, and Deer Valley opened December 6, following what its own leadership called the lowest snowfall in Utah history.
Plan Thanksgiving around the table and the town. If the lifts are spinning, Town Lift is a five-minute walk and that is a bonus. There is more detail in our full November guide.
Late November in Park City runs highs in the mid to high 30s°F and lows in the high teens to low 20s°F, with measurable snow in town normal by that point in the month. Sunset is around 5:00 p.m., so afternoons end early and evenings are long. Pack real winter layers, plan for the possibility of a storm on a travel day, and expect the rooftop fire pit to earn its keep.
Everything above happens on or beside Historic Main Street. Summit on Main is a luxury five-bedroom penthouse sleeping up to 10 across five en-suite bedrooms, with a full Wolf kitchen, a dining table for the whole group, and a private rooftop hot tub and fire pit.
The holiday lighting is a short walk at Miner’s Park. The snow globes are installed along the block. The gallery stroll passes the door. Thanksgiving dinner can be cooked for ten in the kitchen, reserved three minutes away, or picked up and carried home. Five en-suite bathrooms means ten people getting ready for dinner is not a negotiation. And in a week with early darkness and real snow, walking to everything stops being a convenience and becomes the reason the trip works. More on the block is on our location page, and our rental versus hotel comparison covers the group math in detail. Our where to stay in Park City guide compares the neighborhoods side by side.
Five bedrooms. A Wolf kitchen and a table for ten. Directly on Main Street for the holiday lighting and the Snow Globe Stroll.
Check Availability →Reserve lodging first, restaurants second. Thanksgiving week is the highest-demand week of November and fills earliest. Restaurant tables follow in early November.
Arrive Wednesday. It gives you a shopping day before the holiday and puts you on Main Street for the quietest evening of the week.
Stay through Sunday. The gallery stroll, the lighting, and the snow globes all fall after Thanksgiving Day. Leaving Friday means missing the entire reason to be here that week.
Plan for winter driving. The canyon roads and the drive from Salt Lake City International can require traction by late November. A Main Street address means the car stays parked once you arrive.
Check the resorts before booking around skiing. Opening dates are announced in autumn and revised as conditions dictate.
Thanksgiving 2026 falls on Thursday, November 26. The week runs from arrival on Wednesday, November 25 through Sunday, November 29. Thanksgiving morning brings the annual Turkey Trot 5K at Matt Knoop Memorial Park. Main Street restaurants serve holiday menus through the afternoon and evening. The Park City Art and Music Gallery Stroll runs Friday, November 27, and Small Business Saturday on November 28 brings the Main Street holiday lighting at Miner’s Park along with the start of the Snow Globe Art Stroll.
Yes, and for larger groups it is often the better option. Summit on Main has a full Wolf professional range, a double oven, a wet bar, and a dining table that seats the whole group of ten at once. Groceries are available at The Market at Park City on Snow Creek Drive and Fresh Market on Park Avenue, both a few minutes from Old Town, with Whole Foods and Smith’s at Kimball Junction about ten minutes out. Order any specialty items well ahead, since Park City stores sell through holiday stock early.
Main Street options in recent years have included Butcher’s Chop House, Flanagan’s on Main, Kaneo, Riverhorse on Main, The Eating Establishment, and Collie’s Sports Bar and Grill. Off Main Street, Grub Steak, Hearth and Hill, Goldener Hirsch, and the resort dining rooms at St. Regis and Montage Deer Valley all run holiday service. Prices have generally ranged from roughly $50 to $175 per adult depending on the venue. Menus and participating restaurants are published each November at parkcityrestaurants.com, and most book out by early in the month.
Sometimes, but it should not be the reason for the trip. Park City Mountain has historically targeted a mid to late November opening and Deer Valley early December, and neither has announced 2026-27 dates. In the 2025-26 season Park City Mountain moved its November 21 target to December 5 and Deer Valley opened December 6 after the lowest snowfall in Utah history. Treat Thanksgiving turns as upside and check both resorts directly before booking around opening day.
Historic Main Street is the best base for a Thanksgiving group because the holiday lighting, the Snow Globe Art Stroll, the gallery stroll, and the restaurant menus are all on the street itself. Summit on Main is a luxury 5-bedroom penthouse directly on Main Street sleeping 10, with a full Wolf kitchen, a dining table for the whole group, five en-suite bathrooms, and a private rooftop hot tub and fire pit.
